Originally a small village, Lok Kawi now features a small industrial estate as well a modern residential development. It is also the site for the Lok Kawi Army Camp (Kem Tentera Lok Kawi) and the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. Lok Kawi also features one of the few Hindu temples in Kota Kinabalu, the Sri Subramaniyar Temple.

Maratua Island was one of must-visit in our Derawan Trip. The trip to Maratua Island took about one hour boat ride from the island of Derawan, or two hours ride from the Tanjung Batu Port in Berau mainland. Our family of four visited Maratua in early morning when the tide was high. Arriving in Maratua Paradise Resort, we were amazed by the clarity of seawater along the coastal line of the island. Happily we decided to swim nearby the resort. The location was secluded and remote. It was so peaceful and calm, very good choice for family vacation, when you need to get in touch each other closely. We enjoy our leisure time here. Around the island, there are plenty of dive and snorkle points, offering beautiful views of coral reef and under water habitat. There are also several limestone caves inland. One of them called Haji Mangku Cave, we did visit the spot and did some jumps into the still water inside the cave, from the limstone wall, about 5 meters height. It was fun time for the kids.

Mangrove forest situated in Kelurahan Margomulyo, West Balikpapan. Government stated to release this 6,8 ha area from resident ownership, and make it a conservation area. Most trees grow by themselves, but also many of them planted by conservatory programme. This forest protected because this is place where animals and plant live.
This place is also a nice spot for photography lover. Shady thick woods, long ulin bridge for tracking, and some gazeboo. And if you are lucky enough, you can meet tempakul, a fish that can walk on the ground, some birds, even small monkeys searching for food.

This crystal-clear lake is located in Labuan Kelambu Village, about 6-7 hours drive from Berau, East Kalimantan. It got its name from the fact that the water of the lake reflects your image just almost like a mirror. Some say that it was caused by the combination of saltwater and freshwater contained in this lake. Whatever the reason is, the water in this lake is really clear you’d feel like you’re snorkelling in the ocean. There is also lots of fishes to be found here. The atmosphere is really calm and relaxing, and the surrounding forest just adds more serenity to the ambience. If you plan on visiting Derawan island, put this island in your itinerary as well since you won’t regret it.
